Oceanside is the third largest city in San Diego County and has a population of over 190,000 people.

Although originally created with the intention to build a town of single-family homes, Oceanside has since developed into a self-sufficient community that has increased its commercial and industrial development to sustain its growing population base.

Located just south of Camp Pendleton, a large portion of traffic through Oceanside is due to the military base that forms one of the city's borders. Camp Pendleton is the busiest military base in the U.S. and is the major west coast base of the United States Marines Corps. Because of the area's prime location along the coast of the Pacific, the base benefits from prime amphibious training scenarios.

• Usually held the second weekend in September, Oceanside also holds an annual Harbor Days festival
• The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships, the world's 2nd largest Beach Soccer festival
