Nestled just east of I-15, Rancho Bernardo is a hilly master-planned community 20 miles north of San Diego. Rancho Bernardo is north of Carmel Mountain Ranch, northwest of Poway, and south of the much larger city of Escondido.

Golf is a popular recreation in Rancho Bernardo. Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Course, Rancho Bernardo Golf Course, Oaks North Golf Course, Maderas Golf Club, and Stoneridge Country Club all offer convenient and local courses to residents year-round.

Due to Rancho Bernardo's relatively small size, residents of Rancho Bernardo share many of the resources of Escondido. The trip to Escondido takes just a few moments on the interstate and includes a scenic pass over the expansive Lake Hodges, a popular hotspot.

San Diego Wild Animal Park, part of the world-renowned San Diego Zoo, allows guests to view global animals in an open habitat where they are not encaged but rather roam, graze and fly as they would in the wilderness.
